Vieirinha seals permanent PAOK move
Santos ties up deal for compatriot
Portuguese midfielder Vieirinha will stay with Greek side PAOK next season, after it was confirmed that the club have concluded a deal with Porto for his permanent transfer.
Former Portugal under-21 international Vieirinha spent last season on loan in Thessaloniki, where his campaign was largely disrupted by a serious early injury. However, PAOK manager Fernando Santos was keen to retain the player, and negotiations between the clubs have finally reached a close.
“It’s lovely for me that PAOK were so intense in their persistence to keep me here, considering that I didn’t start many games last season due to my injury,” Vieirinha said. “It means that they appreciated my game and I want to start the season well in order to prove my worth and help the club to achieve its targets.”
Porto will retain a percentage of the player’s sporting rights, giving them a share of any potential fee. Vieirinha is expected to travel to Holland over the next few days to join his team-mates at their pre-season training camp.
