Hello guys.

“Let me speak from my heart in English”. My name is Mikhail. I’m from Moscow and I support PFC CSKA. As you know, our teams are going to fight at the EL 1/16 stage. So I think it would be interesting for us to learn more about each other. I’m a representative of CSKA fan site and it would be great if you answer some questions about PAOK football club for our readers. From my side, I could tell you something about my favorite club. So, the questions.

1. PAOK has won Greek championship gold medals twice. So is it meant to be top club in your country nowadays?

2. In your squad there are many notable foreign players. So do the local players have the same important role for the team?

3. Who is the most important figure for PAOK from your point of view?

4. Can you describe the style of football your team used to play? What are the strong and the weak sides of it?

5. PAOK didn’t succeed in Eurocups last years. What are the chances this time?

6. Your team couldn’t score more than one goal in an Europe League match this season. Does it seem to be a problem?

7. Which game in this European season have you remembered the most? Why?

8. What is your expectation for the meeting CSKA? Do you know something about Russian club?

PAOK is the biggest team of north greece.we got only two championships because greek state was always a big bordel.gay-ros an panathinaikos are the teams that have presidents criminals and always referies and governments help these two clubs.PAOK is feared only for the hooligans of PAOK (especially 80s and 90s).for this year the most importand eyropean game was against fenerbahce inTurkey Kostantinopole (instabul) because at this city was established our team.we know tha Csska won uefa cup before last years.but we remember the basketball team of csska and some games.do you remember basketball games against gay-ros when you finished the game only with 3 players.when you had players like karasef spiridonof kisoyrin koydelin nossof.the coush of gay-ros tha druges your players became some years later a politician.

1. PAOK has won Greek championship gold medals twice. So is it meant to be top club in your country nowadays?

It depends on what you consider a “top club”. PAOK is by far the biggest club of Northern Greece (Makedonia) and the only club outside of Athens that has the potential to win a championship. The reason why we have only won two championships is because in Greece the championship is not played on equal terms. The three top teams of Athens, gay-ros, panathinaikos and aek, are always favoured by the referees, thus giving them the advantage over everyone else.

2. In your squad there are many notable foreign players. So do the local players have the same important role for the team?

Yes. We have many local players as well that we consider very important for the success of our team.

3. Who is the most important figure for PAOK from your point of view?

Pablo Garcia is the player mostly respected by PAOK fans. Not only for his achievements during a game but also for his character that fits perfectly with that of the stereo type of a PAOK supporter. Strong, rebel, never gives up, keeps his word and not too much blah blah on the media. He also has a tattoo that is a motto in his life but also reflects the way that PAOK fans see their team. It says: “It is acceptable to fall but you have the obligation to get up again” !

4. Can you describe the style of football your team used to play? What are the strong and the weak sides of it?

Our strong side traditionally the last couple of years has been our defence. This year at times it has turned into our weak side without us being able to find the reason for this change from game to game.

5. PAOK didn’t succeed in Eurocups last years. What are the chances this time?

We all believe that PAOK has a good enough squad to make it to the next round.

6. Your team couldn’t score more than one goal in an Europe League match this season. Does it seem to be a problem?

This is not necessarily a problem. As I said earlier, our strong side has always been our defence so the one goal most times is enough. It is a score that you very often see in PAOK games.

7. Which game in this European season have you remembered the most? Why?

The game Fenerbahce-PAOK for many reasons.
Not only did it give us the ticket to the next round in Europacup but also it was a very emotional game and win. PAOK originates from Constantinople (Instanbul). Thessaloniki became our home city after the little remaining Greeks of  Constantinople (after the fall of the Byzantine Empire) were forced to flee the city by the Turks in the early 1900’s.

As you can understand, a very important and emotional game for our team PAOK whose letters in English stand for Panthessaloniki Athletic Union of Constantinopolitians.

8. What is your expectation for the meeting CSKA? Do you know something about Russian club?

We know very few things so it would be greatly appreciated if you can answer the same questions about your club. We know that your offense is very strong but we believe that we have the talent to beat you.


Please also tell us about your supporters. PAOK supporters are considered by far the most passionate and loyal to their team in Greece. Over the years many foreign media have also placed us among the top supporters of Europe. We are supporters that will respect those who will respect and not provoke us. The only supporters we have a friendly and brother like relationship with are those of Partizan Belgrade. Our motto is “Same Colours, Same Religion” and our relationship is more than a friendship. . .

What about CSKA fans, as you perhaps know, we have a friendship with Partizan too. We also respect Serbians in all cause our nations are a bit similar.
Our supporters are the one of the most respectable in country. CSKA fans very passionate too and also they're always very grateful to players trying their best. We love to chant the name of the player scored or goalkeeper made a safe for minutes. We support every team member and greet former CSKA footballers while meeting their current club. That's why our players love fans sincerely.

Our fans treat their opponents well if we have no conflicts or impudence. Problably, sometimes we're able to anger somebody with the way we use pyrotechnics. Once our fans even were disqualified for the home eurocup match cause of it.

If we talk about mottos, our most favourite one is "The only one club is in my heart forever". It means our loyalty, so, as you can see, we have some similarities

Our nation has been affiliated with Serbs for centuries, probably Greece's most loyal ally since the wars of independence of both nations. So the relations between Greece and Serbia go much further than similarities like religion etc.
