The research performed by PAOKWORLD was completed in 5/4/2008 and the answers given in all 20 questions were then processed. We singled out all double or triple responses given by the same people and canceled some of the answers which were somehow ironic. We tried to refine the results the best we could, given the tools provided by our program and whenever a doubt was born the answer was considered valid. Following this protocol we canceled 206 out of 1619 questionnaires (1413 were regarded valid). A short but accurate comment was made following the results of each question. It should be noted that this comment represents our own opinion based on what our fans have answered. We are of the belief that the results shown below are very essential, in some cases even impressive, and we also feel that certain messages are being transmitted with multiple receivers. Finally, we must remind you that this research took place during the period 27/2 – 5/4.1. I want the new stadium to be built in: - TOUMBA. 54.6 % (771 votes) - Anywhere A.S. decides it is of the best interest of our team. 15,7 % (222 votes) - I don’t want a new stadium..I want the existing stadium in TOUMBA to be renovated. 14 % (198 votes) - Next to Palataki (PAOK Sports Arena). 8.6 % (122 votes) - Other. 7.1 % (100 votes) - TOTAL 100% (1413 votes) The vast majority of PAOK supporters desire a new and modern stadium in the same historic location as the existing one (TOUMBA). A percentage of 15.7 % accepts A.S. PAOK to decide for the new location and only 14 % want a renovation of the existing stadium. It is interesting to note that approximately half of the 7.1 % of the other responses were of the opinion that the new stadium should be built in the Western Districts of Thessaloniki. The basic conclusion which arises clearly shows that the PAOK fan: a) urges for a new stadium b) desires the construction of the new stadium to be located at TOUMBA. 2. I prefer the owners of F.C. PAOK to be: - A major investor but with Zagorakis as a president. 66 % (932 votes) - The model of public base (like F.C. Barcelona). 19.5 % (276 votes) - A powerful and financially strong investor. 9.3 % (132 votes) - A group of shareholders following the model of aek athens (our cousin..). 2 % (28 votes) - Other. 3.2 % (45 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) 66 % of PAOK fans desire a powerful investor with Zagorakis being the president. The choice of public base (and generally the option of PAOK supporters to participate in the management of our team) is expressed with the percentage of 19.5 % and takes the second place. The conclusion is really simple. We want a financially strong and independent investor but with a trustful person (like Zagorakis) to be the president and generally the administrator. If this is not feasible we prefer to take matters into our own hands so that we, the PAOK fans, will be the major investor of our team. On the other hand, the option of having an investor who will be the ultimate boss of PAOK reflects 9.3 % of the preferences of our fans. Finally, the choice of multi shareholders holds the last position with only 2 % of the total votes. What we should keep in mind, concerning this question, is the wish for an economically robust investor who will materialize our dreams for PAOK. But due to the fact that several “investors” have led PAOK to the edge of disaster, we want a reliable person, who meets the respect and loyalty of our million fans (Zagorakis), to be in the front line. Otherwise, the option of our fans to actively participate in the administration of our team should become reality. 3. If you had only one wish concerning next year, what would it be? - Nullification of the debts. 52.6 % (743 votes) - Championship. 26.8 % (378 votes) - New stadium. 9.3 % (132 votes) - Athletic centre. 8.7 % (123 votes) - Other. 2.6 % (37 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) The paramount response is the nullification of our debts (52.6 %). This result significantly shows that the fundamental priority of PAOK supporters is to see a PAOK with healthy economics. The most impressing aspect of the answers given is the low percentage which the building of a new stadium took. This fact shows that PAOK fans are not desperate or in a hurry for the demolition of our stadium in order to have a new and modern one. 4. When do you think that the work of our coach Fernando Santos should be judged? (positively or negatively) - At the end of the new season. 42.5 % (600 votes) - During Christmas period of 2008/09. 17.3 % (244 votes) - At the end of the season 2009/10. 16.8 % (238 votes) - During the summer of 2008. 11.8 % (167 votes) - Yesterday (Already judged..) 8.7 % (123 votes) - Other 2.9 % (41 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) This topic has been particularly in fashion since the Christmas period of 2007. The continuous controversy over our coach meets its Nemesis in these responses. 42.5 % of the answers given reveal the support to the face of our Portuguese coach for one more season while 16.8 % are in total accordance with the three year plan of Zagorakis and as a consequence, support Santos until the end of the season 2009/10. Summing these two percentages shows that almost 2/3 of our fans rely on the managerial abilities of Fernando Santos for at least one more full season. On the other hand, 20.5 % (8.7 + 11.8 %) consider that Santos had more than enough time to show his work and consequently he can be judged immediately (if not already...). Finally, 17.3 % are of the belief that our coach should be judged during the Christmas period of 2008. This originates by the fact that he will have the opportunity of the total command for the selection of our roster and, of course, of the summer preparation. So, during the first half of the next season our team will be the mirror of his managerial philosophy. 5. What kind of transfers do you think that PAOK needs during the summer transfer period? - Jackpots like Veron. 46.7 % (660 votes) - Experienced, but not too aged, players like Gavrancic. 36.9 % (522 votes) - Youngsters like Yahaja. 7.1 % (100 votes) - Famous players such as Conceicao. 3.4 % (48 votes) - Other. 5.9 % (83 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) The most useful conclusion of the above responses is that PAOK fans are not particularly fond of famous players (3.4 %) but at the same time they are severely tired of hearing about promising youngsters (7.1 %). As a result, the vast majority of our fans would like to see mature (ready) players that can instantly make the difference no matter if these players are jackpots (God help Zisis) (46.7 %) or if they are players with a proven value and reputation (which usually cost more..). But the message is straightforward. Bring players that will immediately help the team. An interesting detail arises from the fact that more than half of the other responses (5.9 %) demand for Greek players. This is for sure a fact which reveals that PAOK fans do not want a team based on soldiers of fortune. 6. If you only had 150 Euros, where would you choose to spend them? - Purchase of season tickets. 55.2 % (780 votes) - Buying stocks of PAOK. 23.6 % (334 votes) - Registration to A.S. PAOK 14.1 % (199 votes) - Purchase of Official PAOK label products 5.2 % (74 votes) - Other. 1.9 % (26 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) This was a question which made everyone think. Approximately half of the voters would prefer to spend the money for a season ticket regarding the amount of benefits that he/she will obtain: Watching the football matches of our beloved team. In the second place of the total votes, and with a percentage of 23.6 %, we see that our fans want to actively help the team financially by buying stocks of PAOK, thus expressing their preference to the section of PAOK which involves football. Finally, a pretty low percentage of 14.1 % of PAOK fans’ votes would provide the 150 for registering to A.S. PAOK. 7. What would you vote if there were elections in A.S. tomorrow? - I feel that I am not so well informed. 30.3 % (428 votes) - I am not a member of A.S. PAOK. 27.6 % (390 votes) - Metopo Laikis Vasis. 19.2 % (272 votes) - Xriso Dikefalo. 9.6 % (135 votes) - Katsari. 1.9 % (27 votes) - Other formation. 5.2 % (73 votes) - Other. 2.4 % (34 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) 19.2 % of PAOK fans show their support to MELVA while Xrisos Dikefalos is at the second place with 9.6 %. Katsaris is last, and least, with the tragic percentage of 1.9 %. But what comes as shocking news is that 1/3 of PAOK supporters seems to be uninformed concerning the matters of A.S. while 1/4 is not even a member. 8. Which one do you think is to blame when the atmosphere created by our fans in the stadium is unsuccessful? - The different cores created. 36.2 % (511 votes) - The performance of our team. 28.9 % (408 votes) - The spirit / mood of the majority of the fans. 22.6 % (319 votes) - The organizer of the fans. 8.9 % (126 votes) - Other. 3.4 % (49 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) 36.2 % of PAOK supporters are of the opinion that the fundamental cause for a rather non fanatic atmosphere, created by the fans, is the existence of different cores. This is a problem which is directly associated with the organization and cooperation between our major fun clubs. On the other hand, 28.9 % believes that this atmosphere is a natural consequence of the sometimes tragic performance of our team. A performance which not only does it act as a lullaby but sometimes cuts down the appetite of our fans for supporting our team. Additionally, 22.6 % regard that due to the different eras compared with the 80’s or 90’s, supporters tend to be less fanatic and expressive. As a conclusion, we need to say that the true answer to this question is just a mixture of these three responses. If the team plays well then naturally the spirit of the fans becomes greater. That is the crucial time where we must be ready to create a fire from just a small sparkle and not to allow the existence of different cores. 9. In which place do you objectively believe that PAOK will finish next season? - Fourth (or less) 57.4 % (811 votes) - Third. 26 % (368 votes) - Second. 6.7 % (94 votes) - First. 4.4 % (62 votes) - Other. 5.5 % (78 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) - Realism suggests that we will be fourth or less. But hope for something better than that is never lost. (The end of realism (4th position or less) is the beginning of hope) 10. In which position do you believe that PAOK needs strengthening? - Attack. 41.2 % (582 votes) - Midfield. 26.8 % (378 votes) - Defense. 10.7 % (151 votes) - Substitutes. 6.9 % (98 votes) - Other. 12.5 % (177 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) The majority of the PAOK fans demand to watch goals. That is why supporters urge for transfers of attackers/strikers (especially if we take into consideration the tragic effectiveness of this season’s team). One thing that we should note is the remarkable support of our goalkeeper Fernandes since only 1.9 % of the responses given demand the transfer of a goalkeeper. This support becomes more essential considering his rather awful season. Finally, it is rather impressive that amongst the 177 who voted other, the 152 demand for reinforcements in all positions (10.8 % of all the votes). 11. Which one do you think is the best attitude towards the war declared by the Media? - Total indifference. 31.3 % (442 votes) - Organized economic embargo. 30.7 % (434 votes) - Immediate response to every single thing written or said. 22.7 % (321 votes) - Legal prosecution from P.A.E. PAOK and/or from fan clubs. 11.5 % (163 votes) - Other. 3.8 % (53 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) There are two solutions against the war that media have declared: a) Total indifference and b) Organized economical embargo. We are of the belief that these two solutions could be harmonically combined for greater results. 12. Which element do you think that is missing from the today’s fans in comparison with the past years? - The winner’s spirit which characterized our fans during the 70’s and 80’s. 46.2 % (653 votes) - A leader like Manavis. 25.3 % (358 votes) - A newspaper like ΠΑΟΚτσής. 11.5 % (162 votes) - The existence of fan clubs like they were 15 years ago. 10.2 % (144 votes) - Other. 6.8 % (96 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) We believe that the results speak for themselves. Our fans should have victorious spirit. This is the missing element according to 46.2 % of the responses. The lack of leaders or media for expressing our ideas, are considered cheap excuses. The point is that we have become comfortably numb, even compromised with mediocrity and as a result we don’t claim what we deserve. 13. Our brothers are put behind bars almost after every match we give. What do you think that our actions should be against that? - Organization of coordinated legal acts. (F.C. PAOK, fan clubs and generally all PAOK fans) 54 % (763 votes) - Exerting pressure by protesting in the streets and occupation of public sections. 20.1 % (284 votes) - Cooperation with the “infidel” (fans of other teams) 13.5 % (191 votes) - Constant use of media for protesting. 7.4 % (104 votes) - Other. 5 % (71 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) In a matter which purely concerns the supporters, PAOK fans desire to summon up all their strengths (PAOK’s management, fan clubs and generally all PAOK supporters that are not enlisted members of any fan club) against the State. General recruitment against these unfair laws is regarded as a necessity in order for them to be abolished. 14. Which slogan, amongst the latest successful ones, do you fancy to hear or/and shout the most? - Ooo Paokara I have madness in my mind…47.3 % (668 votes) - Oeo, oeo, oeo PAOK you are the only thing that I breathe and live for.. 26.3 % (371 votes) - The say that you are an utopia..12.1 % (171 votes) - You are a magical essence..9.6 % (135 votes) - Other. 4.7 % (68 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) No surprise there. Our minds are famous for their insaneness… 15. Which motto expresses you the most? - I don’t care about what the others think for you because they don’t know how I feel about you/No one knows what you mean to me.. 37.3 % (527 votes) - And when I go to the shrink in order to tell him my love for you/I have madness in my mind.. 25.5 % (361 votes) - The more you hurt me the more you drive me crazy/I will follow you forever, both in sadness and joy.. 18.3 % (259 votes) - I only live and breathe for PAOK/I only live for PAOK and I will die for you.. 15.4 % (218 votes) PAOKARA, I don’t give a damn about what they say for you, simply because no one really knows how I feel for you. No one understands what you mean to me. Only I know. So, when they send me to the shrink I will drive him nuts as well! 16. According to you, which one is the best performance made by PAOK the last 10 years? - PAOK – Arsenal 1-0 28.5 % (403) - Olimpiakos – PAOK 2-4 (Greek Cup final 2001) 54.9 % (776 votes) - PAOK – Eidhoven 3-2 6.9 % (98 votes) - PAOK – Udineze 3-0 7.6 % (107 votes) - Other 2.1 % (29 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) 54.9 % of our supporters believe that the best performance by PAOK was in the Greek cup final against GAYbros. In the second place with 28.5 % is the victory against Arsenal at Toumba which provided the basis for the historic qualification in the next UEFA cup round. 17. Which person has caused the greatest harm to PAOK during the last two decades? - Goumenos. 58.2 % (822 votes) - Batatoudis. 20 % (283 votes) - Voulinos. 12.2 % (172 votes) - Vezirtzis. 2.3 % (32 votes) - Other. 7.3 % (104 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) Our fans express their belief that every year tends to be worse than the previous one. According to the majority of PAOK supporters, Goumenos is undoubtedly the biggest crook of all. In the second place we find Batatoudis (also called Batman) followed by Voulinos in the third place. Although Vezirtzis came right after Goumenos, he comprises the exception of the rule gathering only 2.3 % of the total votes. We really hope and wish that those periods, and especially this kind of people, have forever vanished from the PAOK family and will just remain a really unpleasant memory. 18. Who is the biggest traitor in the history of PAOK? - Fasoulas. 53.8 % (760 votes) - Salpiggidis. 29.9 % (422 votes) - Orfanos. 6.2 % (87 votes) - Gounaris. 3.7 % (52 votes) - Kostikos. 1.1 % (15 votes) - Other. 5.3 % (77 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) Under normal conditions, Fasoulas would have taken 100 % of the votes. But since we have the recent example of our professional “captain” Salpiggidis, who did not hesitate to follow the same road as Fasoulas did 15 years ago, the responses varied. So, conclusively, the former professional basketball player (and former captain) Fasoulas tends to loses his “popularity” in matters of betrayal amongst the younger supporters of PAOK (53.8 %). Orfanos, Gounaris and Kostikos percentages are way below compared to the first two traitors. 19. According to your opinion, which journalist do you think that holds the “privilege” of being the most anti-PAOK one? - Panoutsos. 29.7 % (419 votes) - Raptopoulos. 26.8 % (378 votes) - Mpraoudakis. 18.9 % (267 votes) - Zagoras. 12.4 % (175 votes) - Other. 12.2 % (174 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) Raptopoulos would have deservingly gained the so called gold medal for being the major anti – PAOK journalist but Panoutsos got passed him just for a few votes. In the third place we find Mpraoudakis after his emotional anti – PAOK campaign over the last few months. Finally, last but not least, we meet Zagoras who would be rather disappointed by the amount of votes he took. After all, it is a shame to try and sycophant the public and be at the last position. It should be noted that amongst the PAOK fans who voted for a different journalist than the names proposed (12.2 %) Stellas’ name was particularly popular. 20. Which team do you hate the most? - Gaybros (olimpiakos) 54.1 % (765 votes) - Skouliki (aris) 30.1 % (425 votes) - Vazelos (panathinaikos) 5.9 % (83 votes) - Chanoumi (aek) 2 % (28 votes) - Other 7.9 % (112 votes) - TOTAL 100 % (1413 votes) No real surprise in the answers given. The arch enemy of the PAOK supporters is injustice and treachery. GAYbros is well known for harmonically fulfilling both conditions in a way that makes this team to be the most hateful rival of our fans. Second greatest enemy for a PAOK supporter is propaganda and obsequiousness. The worms are synonymous with these two notions which lead this team to the second place. The rest of the teams have more or less very low percentages.
